InnoFUR: Furniture design competition

About the event

InnoFUR is a furniture design competition aimed to celebrate the fusion of artistry and functionality of furniture design. In today's dynamic world, furniture design has evolved beyond mere functionality to become a symbol of innovation, creativity and sustainability.

Competition offers participants a chance to apply their skills in a competitive yet supportive environment. This competition aims to provide a platform for designers to showcase their talents, push the boundaries of conventional design, and contribute to the evolution of the furniture industry. Participants can showcase their talent and creativity to a wider audience, including potential employers and industry professionals.

The competition is open to HEI / Design students in a team upto 4 participants. Each team needs to register themselves with details of all participants.

Submission of Conceptual design Participants needs to be done prior to the event. Teams will make the prototype on the day of competition on 18th April 2024 at the competition Venue. Design process / pictorial presentation of the creation is part of submission. All the pictures at various stages should be clicked & presented along with the submission.

Participants will get their own material to make a prototype of selected concepts

Specifications:

1. Display the final Prototype at the end of competition..

2. Concept and design must be original. Initial concept must reach us within a given time frame.

3. The submission will be in the form of a prototype with the display of the various stages in picture presentation.

Judging Criteria:

Points Distribution Criteria (Total 100 points)

• Concept - 30 points

• Innovation & creativity - 30 points

• Final Product - 40 points

Rules and Regulations:

1. Concept Submission stage

• Align the concept with the theme given.

• Concept should be original, fulfilling all the criteria of multifunctionality.

• Concept should reflect a simplistic and smart approach for form exploration.

• Must fulfill the feasibility criteria to withstand climate in Indian Context.

• Once a concept is accepted, participants will work for a more refined design.

• Concepts must reach us in the first week of April 2024.

2. Prototype stage

• Must be done at the venue in a given time frame.

• Submission must be accompanied by a visual journey from concept development to prototype.

• Wherever required technical details and specifications must be given.

Jury/Dignitaries

A panel of designers and sustainability advocates will evaluate the entries based on the judging criteria.

Prizes:

Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category, including cash prizes & Certificates.

• 1st Prize Rs. 15,000/- + certificates

• 2nd Prize: Rs. 10,000/- + certificates

All entries and prototypes will be exhibited to raise awareness about sustainability in furniture design.
